Hamdullah Bayram, working for the the pro-Kurdish Yeni Yaşam newspaper, was according to BIANET taken into custody on 16 March this year . Bayram had an arrest warrant against him and was detained in the scope of the investigation of eleven journalists who were detained in raids in October 2023 in Ankara, Turkey. The journalists are accused of being a member of the forbidden Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). The indictment in the case consists of 210 pages. The trial against the Kurdish media workers will be heard before a criminal court in Ankara, starting on 16 May 2023. The 11 journalists are facing are up to 15 years in prison.
