On 29 April 2023 Mezopotamya Ajansı / Agency (MA) editor Sedat Yılmaz was detained in Diyarbakır. During his transportation to Ankara, he was allegedly attacked. He was handcuffed for 15 hours during the transport. According to the news agency MA, Yılmaz, said that he was kicked in the head by one of the officers in the vehicle.
Yılmaz collegue and co-chair of the Dicle Fırat Journalists Association, Dicle Müftüoğlu was also arrested.
