Croatia - Serbia, 30/04/2018
The Vienna-based South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO), supports a reaction by Croatian Journalists´ Association (CJA) about a Serbian minster.
CJA condemned the decision of Serbian Minister Jadranka Joksimovic (Jadranka Joksimović) to refuse to give a statement for Croatian media after meeting with high representatives of South Eastern Europe at Brdo / Kranj in Slovenia on 25 April 2018.
We have the practice in the SEEMO region that politicians separate journalists to “our journalists“ (journalist who publish positive comments and reports) and „their journalists“ (journalist working for critical media or coming for a foreign country). In many cases when only “our journalists” get a statement”, said SEEMO Secretary General Oliver Vujovic.
According to CJA, Hrvoje Kresic (Hrvoje Krešić), N1 journalist, confirmed to the CJA that Joksimovic, Minister of European integration in the Serbian Government, refused to give a statement to Croatian journalists after that she gave a statement to Serbian journalists. When asked for reason of that action, the Minister answered she could choose whom to give the statement, and she would, as she said to Kresic, give it to journalists she had brought to Brdo. Information given to the CJA by Hrvoje Kresic has been confirmed by audio recording.
According to CJA, after that statement of Joksimovic, her Office said that her behavior was provoked by Croatian journalists who behaved uncivilized and offended.
Although there was no proof about it, Joksimovic repeated that for a local Serbian TV channel, as CJA reported: „It is evident that the point of that behavior of Croatian journalists was to provoke me. They were full of negative charge, they intercepted me, shouted, …“
